Criminal Defence from a Winchester Lawyer

Whatever criminal offence you face, Thomas Simpson Solicitors of Winchester will support you.

We no longer undertake legal aid work. Instead we have decided to continue and develop criminal defence for privately paying clients only. This means that our undivided attention can be given to clients, whatever criminal offence they face.

If you need a lawyer, we will represent you whether your case is in the Magistrates’ or Crown Court or the Court of Appeal. Where necessary, we will also instruct a barrister on your behalf. This could be someone you have chosen or you could leave this to us.

Due to our long experience in dealing with barristers (including Queens Counsel) in criminal defence, we have been able to form strong relationships with particular individuals and their chambers, and we are certain that we can find the right person for you. We understand that having to go through the court process is stressful and often frightening for those accused of an offence and so we will support you in this from start to finish.

‘No stone is left unturned in the pursuit of justice’

We do appreciate that paying for representation can be costly, so we do our best to keep our fees as low as we can. If a case is straightforward and is to be heard in the Magistrates’ Court, we can offer a fixed fee depending on the nature of the case (for instance, whether it is a guilty plea dealt with on the day, or a trial involving more hearings and full preparation).

If your case is to be heard in the Crown Court, we charge our usual hourly rate of £210 for preparation and we will be able to negotiate your barrister’s fees as well. (A barrister normally charges a ‘brief fee’ with a daily court attendance fee on top.) As every case is different we cannot specify exact costs here, so please telephone us for more details about what is likely to be involved.
